1. What is Vaxxine DSL?
DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is high-speed Internet access that utilizes
existing copper telephone lines that are in place in your home. DSL can
offer T3-like speeds up to 90 times faster than a 56Kbps modem. DSL is
based on a digital signal, which can squeeze much more capacity out of
a copper phone line than an analog modem can. Your current phone line
uses only 1% of the line capacity for a voice call. Vaxxine DSL utilizes
the other 99% of the lines capacity.
2. What are the benefits of the
Vaxxine DSL service to me?
- Downloads can be completed in seconds at up to 90 times the rate of
a 56K modem.
- You can choose to always be connected with no wait for dial up access.
- No second phone line is required. You can make voice calls or send
and receive faxes while connected to the Internet.
- Consistent speed regardless of how many people are on line.
- Easy to install and no rewiring is required. Internal and external
modem configurations are available.
- You can also choose to have a professional installation completed
for you for a small fee.
3. What does the Vaxxine DSL service
include?
- High speed dedicated line
- 60GB Bandwidth Residental DSL (100GB for Business DSL)

4. What are the costs of the Vaxxine
DSL service?
Please refer to our HighSpeed Pricing page for
prices.
5. Do I have to be a customer to
get these great rates?
No, these rates are available to all regardless of the long distance
carrier that you use as long as your line or location qualifies. Please
note that new customers will be required to pay for the DSL modem, whether
purchasing or renting, up-front. For customers who choose to rent the
modem, they will be required to pay for a month of DSL up-front before
a Vaxxine representative can place the order.
6. Is this Vaxxine DSL service available
in all areas?
At this time availability is limited to areas where Bell Canada central
offices are equipped to provide the services to us. New areas are opening
up regularly. You can check for availability right
here.
7. Do I need a second phone line?
The choice is yours to make but you do not need a second line for this
service. On one line you can connect to the Internet and make voice calls
at the same time on the same number. Or you can be connected to the Internet
and send or receive faxes at the same time. You cannot however make a
voice call and send and receive faxes at the same time.
8. Are all Bell Smart Touch features
and current answering machine services affected by this service?
There is no affect on current services that you use today. All will continue
to function as they do today.
9. Can I take my computer to another
location and use the Vaxxine DSL service?
No. The service is activated only for one telephone number and is not
portable to another location.
10. Can I send and receive faxes
with the Vaxxine DSL service?
No. The DSL modem is not equipped as a fax modem. You must continue to
use existing dialup faxing or fax machine for this purpose. These devices
will work on the telephone line configured for the high-speed service.
11. How long does it take to have
the Vaxxine DSL service activated?
It will take on average 4-5 business days from the date an order is submitted.
This time frame is for the activation of the line and does not take into
consideration the installation.
12. Does the Vaxxine DSL service
prevent hacking or viruses?
The Vaxxine DSL service only provides access to Internet based services
and it is still the responsibility of the user to protect their systems
using commercially available tools and software. Vaxxine's spam and virus
blocking assists with this.
13. I have pre-paid my account for
a year. What happens to the money that I have already paid?
The answer to this question depends on the type of account that you have
pre-paid. The Sales Department will be able to provide you with answers
regarding your specific account.
14. Do I have to change my login
or e-mail accounts?
Yes. The account login name is different for DSL users. This naming convention
allows our Technical Support staff to easily identify the type of connection
in order to service you better. Your Vaxxine e-mail address(es) remains
the same.
15. I run a small business. Is this
service available to me?
The Vaxxine DSL service operates on regular telephone lines. If you subscribe
to a business line for your small business, then the business rates apply.
16. What kind of speed can I expect?
The hardware supporting this service is rated for up to 5 Mbps, depending
on which package you subscribe to.
* Your distance from the local Bell central office will be a factor in
the speeds you receive.
17. Can I network more than one
computer on one Vaxxine DSL service?
Yes, more than one
computer can be configured to access the same line. Additional hardware
or software may be required to do this. This additional
hardware or software is not provided with the installation of the Vaxxine
DSL service and is the responsibility of the owner to obtain and configure
their equipment for the service. Vaxxines Sales Dept. will be pleased
to offer recommendations and quotations for multi-computer connectivity.
18. Will other DSL style modems
work with Vaxxine DSL?
Yes. Most DSL modems will work with Vaxxine DSL. We can not, however,
guarantee that ALL modems are compatible with Vaxxine
DSL service. It is the responsibility of the customers to determine suitability
of their own modem. If you bring it in to our offices, we will test the
modem for compatibility.
